Moving Rome and The building of constantinople
In 330 AD Constantine moved Rome because of tribes burning down Rome. Some of those tribes were Germanic, Goths, Visigoths, and Gallic tribes. When Constantine found his new city he named it Nea Rome meaning "New Rome". In order for the people of Nea Rome to feel at home as they did in Rome, Constantine built many things that reminded them of Rome. An example is the Hippodrome. A Hippodrome was made to look like the Colosseum but instead of killing people inside of the Hippodrome, it was used for chariot races and a place to celebrate events. Constantine then named the city after himself (Constantinople).
With many new inventions, such as the 14 foot walls surrounding Constantinople and the Golden Horn, Germanic tribes could not sack the city. The Walls were wide with armed men on top just in case a tribe tries to attack. The Golden Horn was a long chain made from iron that ran through the channel between today's Europe and Asia. The chain was used to stop ships. The ships would run into the chain and it would break the bottoms of them so that they would sink.
