The Milvian Bridge
The Battle at milvian BridgeIn the Spring of 312, Constantine crossed the Alps to take over Italy. Maxentius stayed in Rome but he sent a large army against Constantine. They were defeated by Turn and all the cities of Northern Italy were taken over by Constantine. Maxentius tried to strike back, but failed. He destroyed the old Milvian Bridge and constructed a narrow pontton bridge held together by a chain. Constantine camped with his army north of the city. The day of the battle came and they fought until Constantine won his victory.
