Justinian extended the Byzantine Empire dramatically. Justinian extended the empire back into areas that had previously been part of the Western Roman Empire. He conquered Italy and much of the coast of North Africa and even reached as far as Spain.
Accomplishment #2 - codified roman laws
He codified Roman law. There had been many laws passed by Roman legislatures, edicts handed down by emperors, commentaries by legal scholars, and other kinds of materials related to the law. Justinian had these collected in one place and used that as the basis of Byzantine law.
Accomplishment #3 - BUilding churches and buildings
He had a great deal of building done in Constantinople. The most important of these buildings was the Hagia Sophia, an extremely beautiful church that still stands today.
Accomplishment #4 - Nika Revolt
The Nika Revolt was when two people were causing problems in the Hippodrome and Justinian didn't punish them like he would normally do for others. He didn't punish them because they were cheering for the same team he was. All of the people got mad and went against Justinian causing them to burn down the city. So Justinian wanted to run away but his wife, Empress Theodora, held him back to fix the problem. He killed both of the criminals so that it was fair.
